Castle De Dool was the first time mentioned in 1282. The castle with renaissance features is planted in a green oasis. Although it was in the 18th century rebuild in classical style it still keeps some of its 16th century moated castle characters.
The castle was in the middle ages in troubled times the refugee for the monks from Sint-Truiden or they used it as a country house in more pleasant times. Since 1994 there is a modern brewery located in the outbuildings of the castle. You also can stay in the castle as it is also recently in use as a bed and breakfast.
